Five boys alleged to have gang-raped a girl in Bantama, have been ordered to
be held in prison remand by the Kumasi-based Gender Court.
Their pleas were not taken and they would be making their next appearance on Wednesday, January 31.
The gang-rape led to public outrage after a video footage of the act went viral on social media.
The accused had earlier been discharged by the Asokwa District Court, which was handling the case, after the prosecution raised an objection, arguing that one of them was above 17 years.
They were quickly re-arrested and put before a Circuit Court.
Police Chief Inspector Mercy Quaye told the court presided over by Madam Comfort Taseame that
investigations into case were yet to be completed.
