Citizens donate to home schools

Tankor (B/A), Nov. 3, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Oscar Opoku, an Italy-based citizen of Tankor in the Nkoranza district of Brong-Ahafo Region has donated some storybooks and other stationery to the pupils of the local Methodist Primary School at Tankor on Thursday. The items valued at three million cedis were presented through Madam Georgina Osei, an elder sister of Mr. Opoku who is living in Accra.

Madam Osei quoted his brother as having given the assurance that he would continue to assist the school in other ways to promote its growth and also enhance the education of the area. She said Mr. Opoku had plans to establish a Vocational Training Institute at Tankor in future.

Mr. John Worae, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of the school received the items and later handed them over to Miss Grace Anane, the Headteacher.

Both Mr. Worae and Miss Anane commended Mr. Opoku for the gesture and appealed to other citizens to emulate him. In another development, Mr. Augustine Kwasi Amoateng, a UK-based citizen of Bonsu also in the Nkoranza district donated eight footballs and eight whistles valued at four million cedis to six schools in Bonsu education zone.

The beneficiary schools were Bonsu Methodist Primary, Bonsu Islamic Primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS), Bonsu Roman Catholic Primary and JSS, Dotobaa Roman Catholic Primary, Dotobaa Local Authority (L/A) JSS and Koforidua L/A Primary.
