An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday granted a bail to Elvis Amoah, a Civil Engineer in the sum of GH¢ 7,800 with two sureties, each earning not less than GH¢600 for allegedly stealing 100 boxes of floor and wall tiles worth GH¢7,800.

Elvis pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail, but would reappear before the Court on February 16 for commencement of trial.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Isaac Agbemehia told the Court that the complainant one Dr Isaac Kwabena Boakye, is a Gynaecologist domiciled in Germany, whilst Elvis is a Civil Engineer residing at Pokuase Amanfrom.

He said sometime in the year 2006, the complainant imported Italian floor and wall tiles into the country for the construction of his house located at Boshye, near Ashongman.

He said the accused person was the supervisor of the project for the complainant and had custody of the keys to the house.

The prosecution said, unknown to the complainant, Elvis after tiling the house of the complainant took 100 boxes of the tiles and used same to tile his personal house at Pokuase Amanfrom.

Police Chief Inspector Agbemehia told the Court that sometime in the 2011 the accused person informed the complainant that he was leaving the country for the United States of America.

He said the complainant directed the accused person who was keeping the keys to his house to hand them over to one Eric Kyeremeh, a new supervisor appointed by the complainant.

He said this was done and the complainant enquired of the tiles from Eric and was informed that there were no tiles in the house.

The prosecution said due to the work schedule of the complainant in Germany, he could not visit Ghana until December 2015 when he came down to Ghana and reported the matter to the police and the accused person was arrested.
