*As part of activities marking their first anniversary, the Classy Ladies Club (CLC) have donated **two sets of brand new imported baby incubators, mosquito nets, cloths for children and babies, feeding bottles, food among many items worth over GH¢25,000 (twenty five thousand Ghana Cedis) to the Takoradi Hospital at a colourful ceremony last Saturday.*
“It is a great pleasure to always be around here just in this hospital. CLC was formed as a charitable organization to take care of the unfortunate and Solmed Ghana Limited, we are very glad to support them because we see this as our social responsibility. This is a very special day to come out here and donate such special equipment and other useful items to this hospital,” explained Kevin Hall, Managing Director of Solmed Ghana Limited, a key sponsor of CLC.
Items donated in full were baby incubators, blankets, mosquito nets, baby pampers, feeding bottles, bibs, pegs, TV, washing powder, parazon, rice, oil, toilet rolls, dettol, soap, powder puff, soothers, flask, baby dress, baby powder, cute blanket, baby bath, baby shampoo, hangers, air refresher and latex gloves.
Dr. Emmanuel Koomson who received the items on behalf of the hospital, expressed profound appreciation to the Classy Ladies Club for the donation but he emphasized that the hospital still needs more.
“We are now going to build a children’s ward and Classy Ladies must promise us two more. Like Oliver Twist, we will ask for more so that when it’s time for Classy Ladies to give birth, you will have no problem. So we will keep asking for more. The good book says that there is more blessing in giving than receiving,” Dr. Koomson replied in his acceptance speech.
Never shying away from their self-proclaimed responsibility however are the Classy Ladies Club with their chief disclosing that they will surely come back to give more to the Takoradi Hospital. Adriana Marcus-Kwofie, CLC President, stated: “We are also grateful and thank you for receiving us. We’ve adopted this place and we pray that God continue to bless us and give us the grace to do even more than this.”
Classy Ladies Club Ghana is a charity organisation based in the Western region capital of Takoradi formed in November 2010 by Adriana Marcus-Kwofie with a purpose to bring females together as women, mothers, sisters, aunties in helping the orphans and needy in their community. Their motto, ‘Classy in the hearts and minds,’ also suggests that anything worth "being" is worth working really hard at becoming a blessing to others who really need help.
Supported by sponsors Solmed Ghana Limited, ETG Ghana, Cann and Sons, L & M Catering and philanthropic individuals, CLC have in just one year of existence already held Christmas and Easter parties for needy children as well the renovations of three orphanage homes within the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
Next up on their charity projects schedule is building a clinic for a village in Axim, also in the Western Region as well as a massive Christmas party yet again for some orphanage homes in Takoradi on the 11th December, 2011.
“So far so good and we have opened our doors for new members to join,” Madam Marcus Kwofie stated.
