Pastor Adjei Nimaku Darkwa of the Kaneshie District Church of Pentecost has called on the clergy to continue to speak against the ills in society for national development.

He said the clergy have contributed immensely in voicing some concerns on corruption, filth, injustices, among others, but there was the need for them to do more.

“The nature of our politics in Ghana is sometimes very worrying because the moment you begin to speak for or against national issues, you would be tagged with a political party, and for this reason, often times some men of God remain quiet and pray behind the scenes to support in the national development cause,” he said.

Pastor Darkwa who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said with the prevailing population of 70 per cent Christians, the country should have made greater strides in its socio-economic development.

He asked Christians to live exemplary lives worthy of emulation wherever they may find themselves and urged the churches to educate their members on the need for environmental cleanliness, saying; “cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

Apostle Michael Etrue also of the Kaneshie District Church of Pentecost urged Christians to shun divisiveness and demonstrate love and peace.

He said the current state of negative social vices should be a wakeup call for Christians to be steadfast in their religious activities to transform the people.

“The vision of the Church of Pentecost for 2020 is ‘possessing nations,’ a platform, which is used to transform the lives of the people through gospel impartation,” he said.
