Chairman and leader of the EGLE party, Danny Ofori Atta, has urged Ghanaians to come out to fight for the total exorcism of what he called the spirit of lies in our body politic.
Making the submission on the ragging cocaine saga, Mr Ofori- Atta contended that the issue surrounding the cocaine is entirely a people’s matter, but the government rapidly interfered in the affair by setting up the Georgina Woode “just to cover up issues”.
According to him, he can deduce broadly that the government of the NPP is recognized to be more often than not jumping to set up committees and commissions to deal with issues they are more likely to be found wanting or affected when left in the hands of the police and the national security.
Mr Ofori Atta raged on saying “they set up commissions instead of letting the police do their job. That is their style. So basically, I don’t think this government is prepared to deal with the issue, and so unless this government is out, we will get no result or any serious approach to the cocaine business. I mean forget it”.
Reacting to the issue of the genesis and upsurge of the menace, he recalled the existence of some form of cooperation and agreement within the international community that was geared at combating hard drugs by confiscating assets of convicted drug dealers.
According to him, when the NPP government came to power, it reversed the trend by de-confiscating those confiscated assets of convicted drug barons.
“Does this not create avenue for peddlers?, he queried.
He said it is this government attitude of handling such issues that “we are seeing today”.
Switching on to the activities of his party, Mr Ofori Atta was quick to disclose that their findings are that a lot of work needed to be done in Ghana. he underscored that the whole society needs overhauling by undergoing a process of healing and attitudinal change and adjustment.
He pointed out that to be able to embark on any meaningful development that change must be established and in their effort to do that the spirit of lies which is playing a dominant role in the society be eradicated.
He hinted that the moral sade his party has embarked on, started in the Eastern Region, among the youth would be spread to other regions and the nation at lager.
Like a preacher man, he admonished that Ghanaians must accept the change saying it is a responsibility of every Ghanaian, not only religious leaders, pastors and politicians, because God is spirit and truth.
