The Member of Parliament for Bodi in the Western region Samson Ahi has apologised to the chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Hackman Owusu-Agyemang.

Mr. Ahi’s apology comes after Mr. Owusu-Agyemang expressed grave reservations over claims he made that he (Owusu-Agyeman) was against the increment of cocoa prices for the coming season.

“In deed, it is very irritating as far as I’m concerned for him to have made that statement,” Mr. Owusu-Agyemang said of the allegation in an interview Wednesday June 21, 2017.

“Nobody has made any statement to the effect that there will be no increases or there will be increases,” he said, adding: “The official statement will be made. But when people want to score political points and begin to attribute utterances, sayings [impugn] to individuals then it is disgusting really.”

Reacting to Mr. Owusu-Agyemang’s disgust to his claim on Thursday June 22, 2017, Mr. Ahi said: “Honourable Hackman called personally when I was in the chamber and he raised the matter that you are just referring [the accusation] so I actually don’t want to discuss the matter going forward. If that has offended him I apologise to him.”

He said he based his claim on a publication by the Business and Financial Times and that he informed the chair of the COCOBOD but “as I have said if that has offended him, he is my uncle and I apologise to him.”
