Cocoa purchasing clerk killed in double tragedy

Otaakrom (Ash), Nov. 11, GNA - Kwame Taylor, a cocoa purchasing clerk, was killed immediately when an ambulance carrying him to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after an earlier car crash, was involved in an accident.

The driver of the ambulance, Jerry Obeng, and three relatives of the deceased, Kwadwo Tawiah, Nana Gyebi and Isaac Ofori sustained serious injuries and were receiving treatment at KATH.

Miss Peace Addai, a nurse on the vehicle, escaped unhurt. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Fosu, the Nyinahin District Police Commander, confirmed the story to Ghana News Agency. He said the deceased, had been on admission at the Bibiani Government Hospital with deep cuts and broken bones following a road accident at Bibiani and was referred to the KATH.

ASP Fosu said when Taylor was being conveyed to the KNIST in the ambulance, on reaching a spot near Otaakrom, the driver of the vehicle saw a tractor without tail lights and reflectors just ahead of him. In an attempt to avoid crashing into the tractor, the ambulance run into a ditch and the patient died instantly.

The body of the deceased had been deposited at the Bibiani Hospital mortuary.
