Agona Nyakrom (C/R), June 24, - Two persons were killed at Agona Nyakrom when a room in which they were sleeping collapsed following torrential rains last Friday. The police gave their names as Madam Efuah Mensimah, 26-year-old nursing mother and Miss Efuah Moshie, a six-year-old pupil of Nyakrom primary school. Their bodies have since been buried. Meanwhile, Mr Emmanuel Amarteifio, Agona District Liaison Officer of the National Mobilization programme (NMP), has toured a number of villages in the area which were affected by recent floods. Speaking to the press after the inspection, Mr Amarteifio said the rains caused extensive damage to many buildings, farms and other property and called for assistance from the government. He said at Agona Asafo, more than 90 acres of cocoa, cassava, plantain, cocoyam and vegetable farms have been destroyed by floods adding that those who were severely affected are farmers living alongside River Ayensu.
