Tamale, Nov. 18, GNA - Mr. Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), on Friday called on fragmented Nkrumaist groups to come together to help wrest power from the NPP government in 2008.
They should therefore, join the unity talks currently going on among the Nkrumaist Parties for the formation of a formidable CPP as an alternative government for Ghanaians.
Mr. Atutiga who was speaking to the GNA in an interview in Tamale on Friday said, if all CPP members agreed to come together there would be only few members' left for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said Ghanaians were now politically mature in voting adding, "The people can now distinguish between truth and lies and would like to vote for a government of their choice."
He said the CPP was going to shock the NPP and the NDC, come December 2008 for them to erase the wrong notion that the two parties would be alternating in power.
"Let the NPP and the NDC be deceived that they are the only strong parties to alternate power in Ghana. They would fall like the tortoise and break into pieces and it would not be easy for them to get up," he stressed.
Mr. Atutiga said division, internal wrangling and logistics were the bane of the party's poor performance in previous elections and called for total unity and commitment to the motto of the CPP/PNC's "Forward ever, with Honest Service" to ensure total victory in the 2008 elections.
The 50 year old educationist who replaced Alhaji Issah Mobila for the position said the top CPP hierarchy had attached much enthusiasm in the fight to win power and that there was no way power would elude the CPP this time.
He said he would embark on a tour of the three Northern Regions to explain the vision and strategies of the party put in place to win power to the people at the grassroots level and appealed to other members with leadership positions not to rest until CPP won power.
