Come for my head should Mallam junction flood again - Engineer

An engineer with the Ghana Sanitation and Water Project, Gabriel Ingman, has thrown a challenge to the public by placing his head on the chopping board over the perennial flooding at Mallam Junction in the Greater Accra region.

This follows the opening of the lane on the Mallam-Kasoa road that was closed to traffic, few weeks ago, as engineers construct a drain across that stretch of road.

Speaking on TV3’s News@10, yesterday, June 3, 2018, Mr. Ingman said that: “Water used to flow from upstream [on top of Weija Hills down] and when it gets there [Mallam Junction], it’s in volumes. And, therefore, the coverts that we have provided there is really big enough.”

Answering a question posed by sit-in anchor of News@10, Bright Nana Amful, on whether Ghanaians should come for his head over Mallam Junction flooding again Mr. Ingman said he is ever ready.

“Please do. Come for my head should Mallam Junction flood again,” he said.

Residents, in and around Mallam Junction, have had to battle the perennial flooding of the area with some losing their lives and valuable belongings. On June 3, 2015, four people were swept away by floods at Mallam Junction.
