Commentary - Are We Helping The Course Of NDC

With Branded Cars On Campuses?

We do not know it for a fact that anybody or group of persons are sharing vehicles to young ladies on our tertiary education campuses.

What we do know for a fact is that, some young ladies not known to be core NDC members are driving NDC branded vehicles on some of our campuses. Some independent philanthropist may think that he/she is contributing to the campaign of the NDC; but is it really the case?

Is the person/s really helping the course of the NDC with this approach to campaigning?

If a person or some persons want to help, can’t they consult the apex campaign body so that some sense of purpose and focus can be associated with such supposed help? Have some Johnny-Just-Comes (JJCs) suddenly been thrust into the forefront of the NDC’s campaign, and are hurting the fortunes of the party instead of increasing the party’s chances?

There is no denying that politics is game of numbers and we need all hands on deck!

Are we however going to follow this principle blindly? The Informer has been receiving calls upon calls from core NDC members on some of our campuses who are INCENSED by the nauseating things that are unfolding before their eyes.

Why should core NDC TEIN members be struggling to lay hands on T-shirts and posters, while some young ladies who are not known to be NDC members are the ones distributing NDC T-shirts?

Just yesterday, The Informer got a call from a student from IPS who claimed that a vehicle meant for them has been hijacked by some young lady on Legon campus. Why all this confusion? We ask; who is in-charge of creating this problem for the NDC? The people/persons who are distributing the vehicles like confetti; have they run an election before? Or they have suddenly gotten access to some high-ups and resources, and so are busy doing things that they think are good; but only ending up hurting the campaign? Two days ago, The Informer heard the National Youth Organiser of the NDC, Ludwig Hlordze, say on a number of radio stations that he was unaware of any such distribution of vehicles to people on some campuses.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, does not have an idea as regards the distribution of vehicles on some campuses.

The Campaign Coordinator, Elvis Afriye-Ankrah, does not seem to have any idea that vehicles are being distributed.

So who is in-charge of this agenda of denting the image of the NDC via the distribution of vehicles on some campuses?

If the vehicles were not branded, The Informer would not lose sleep over some individuals who might have the money and want to buy vehicles for university students.

The Informer is very concerned and worried because the vehicles are branded in the name of the NDC and the party’s flagbearer.

We have nothing against the distribution of vehicles for party work but for goodness sake, can’t we go through the party structures? Don’t we have TEIN executives and patrons on our various campuses? Why are we sidestepping them and making them feel so slighted and pained? The most annoying aspect of this nauseating agenda, is the fact that some of the persons who are driving the NDC branded vehicles are known critics of the NDC who have spent the last three and half years insulting President Atta Mills, then Vice President Mahama, and the NDC Government.

Suddenly, enemies of the NDC are riding in NDC branded cars because some supposed philanthropists are using the wrong modus operandi to win votes. The Informer knows that the supposed philanthropists mean well and want President John Mahama to win the elections, but we are begging them to slow down a bit on their style of operation and seek some political advice from the party structures so that a well-intentioned agenda of spreading the Better Ghana Gospel, does not become a problem.

We all want to see President John Mahama emerge victorious so we are pleading with all and sundry not to get over-excited, but stay focused so that we all close ranks and cross over the Jordan into the Promise-Land, and not allow Akufo-Addo and his “All-die-be-die” cum “wormafunu” assassins to use the backdoor to get into office.
