The newly built Kasoa Polyclinic in the Awutu Senya East constituency which was recently commissioned by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson is yet to commence operations, Angelfmonlinegh.com can report.
The Polyclinic was commissioned to render quality healthcare for the inhabitants of Kaosa and environs but work is yet to begin in the structure which was left idle for years.
The MP who also doubles as the Minister for Special Development Initiative declared the facility opened when she made a donation to the facility.
The MP further debunked allegations that the Akufo-Addo government has neglected the project adding that she procured the equipment for the initial operations of the polyclinic.
Equipment donated to the facility included 20 court children mattresses, two wheel chairs, three adult beds, 10 delivery beds, two delivery sets, four laptops, three oxygen flow meter among others.
Days after the commissioning, Angel FM correspondent, Odehye Kwaku Asiedu who toured the facility revealed that the polyclinic has not started operation.
He reported that there are no health personnel at the facility to render healthcare services to people who might want to come around.
Kwaku Asiedu reported that the facility was under lock and key when he visited. He further revealed that there is electricity supply to the facility.
His checks revealed that plumbing work is now ongoing to allow the flow of water to the facility.
The polyclinic was abandoned until residents of Kasoa expressed outrage at the government for failing to commission the facility to provide them with health services.
Although the Ghana Health Service (GHS) made arrangements to install the necessary equipment to pave way for the polyclinic to serve its purpose, there is still much work to be done.
