Accra, Oct. 18, GNA - Mr. Kwaku Ansa-Asare, Director of the Ghana School of Law (GSL), on Tuesday said he believed that the committee investigating allegations of wrong doing against him had only been set up to humiliate him.
"I think the committee has an agenda and I leave it in the hands of God," he said.
Mr Ansa-Asare, who appeared before the committee to cross-examine witnesses who had made various allegations against him during past sittings, said although he had complained about the tarnishing of his image by some sections of the media, the committee had done nothing about it.
He said it was the responsibility of the committee to caution journalists who decided to write untruths about its sittings. The GSL Director said throughout his life, no fact-finding committee had behaved as the one investigating him. "Once you have allowed the press in, you need to censor what they write," he said.
Mr Ansa-Asare said contrary to the impression that had been created that he was running a one-man show at the School, he never took any decision on his own but took decisions only on the approval of the General Legal Council (GLC).
He said all the documents that the committee was looking for as well as those within its domain, which bordered on the matters that were before it, were already before the GLC, which set up the committee. Mr. Ansa-Asare said all workers of the GSL who claimed that he dismissed them without going through the due process could not have been telling the truth.
He said, in some instances, the dismissals were carried out even before his appointment as Director of the GSL. Sitting continues tomorrow.
