GWL Assesses Water Challenges in Community 25, Ashaiman and Gbetsile
Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has begun assessing water supply challenges in Community 25, Tema, Ashaiman New Town, Gbetsile and surrounding communities as it works towards introducing a three-zone distribution system to improve access to water.
The proposed Water Demand Management Programme will divide the affected communities into three zones, with each zone expected to follow a designated water supply schedule. The arrangement is intended to help residents know when water is expected to be supplied to their areas and plan their daily activities accordingly.
GWL management undertook a field visit to the affected communities to assess the difficulties with water distribution, identify the factors affecting supply and explore measures to improve service delivery.
The planned zoning system is expected to bring greater structure to water distribution, allowing households to prepare for their water needs instead of relying on uncertainty over supply days.
However, GWL has not yet announced the specific communities assigned to each zone, the proposed supply days or when the programme will take effect.
The company has reiterated its commitment to improving water supply reliability and enhancing service delivery to consumers as it works to address the challenges affecting the communities.
The effectiveness of the proposed arrangement will depend on the consistency of supply, clear communication of schedules and residents' access to reliable information about when water will be available.
For households and businesses in the affected areas, the key question will be whether the planned changes will translate into more predictable and dependable water access.
