Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), Jan. 8, GNA- Adaklu-Kodzobi, a small community at the precincts of the Ho Polytechnic is to vigorously enforce its byelaw banning pupils from attending wake keepings and visiting video centers from January this year.
The Chiefs and People of the community passed the byelaw about four years ago, but was not being enforced.
Mr John Nyatsikor, the Unit Committee Chairman of the said this at an annual get together of the Community's Student's Union at the weekend. He announced that the Unit Committee in conjunction with the PTA and School Management Committee would institute an award scheme for pupils and teachers of the community's Primary and Junior Secondary School who excel academically.
Mr. Nyatsikor urged the students to study hard to enable them to achieve academic excellence.
Togbe Dzegblade IV, the chief of Adaklu-Kodzobi, advised the youth to lay a solid foundation for their future by aspiring to reach the apex of the educational ladder.
He said students who indulge in drugs and pre-marital sex were jeopardizing their future and advised them to refrain from such social vices.
Togbe Dzegblade asked the students to see themselves as future leaders of the country, adding that, their efforts should be geared towards achieving that goal.
He said he was liaising with some "friends of the community" in the United States of America to assist brilliant but needy pupils and students in the area.
Togbe Dzegblade said though times were hard, parents should try as much as possible to assist their children attain a respectable level in education. 08 Jan 07
