Community threatens to boycott elections

Akuffo-Krodua (C/R), GNA - The people of Akuffo-Krodua, near Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region, have threatened to boycott the forthcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections, if their request for the rehabilitation of the road linking the village and Adawukwa is not done between now and December.

According to the inhabitants, mostly farmers, the decision followed the refusal of past governments to head their calls to improve the bad state of the road.

They expressed regret that in spite of the large tones of cassava and corn dough, as well as gari and hundreds of acreage of sugar cane farms in the area produces, succeeding governments had ignored their calls to reshape the six-kilometre link road.

Mr Albert K Afful, assemblyman of Adawukwa/Akuffo-Krodua/Osaekrodua electoral area, confirmed the allegations levelled against various governments as regards the rehabilitation of the road, adding that the bad state of the road had affected the marketing of farm products in the area over the year.

Mr Afful said he had already drew the attention of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly to the problem and hope the assembly and the central government would do all they could to better the condition of Akuffo-Krodua/Adawukwa road before the deadline given by the people elapsed to enable them to participate in the December general elections.
