Some companies in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis have put in stringent measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Notable among the measures, are the prevention of customers without nose and face masks from entering their business premises and stores to transact business.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Field Operations Manager at Stellar Logistics, Mr Godfred Asabi Boakye said Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps, and tissues have been placed at all entry points of the company to ensure that customers and visitors washed and sanitized their hands in and out.

Gun thermometers are also used to check the temperatures of entrants at the checkpoints, adding that those with a temperature above 38 degrees Celsius were suspects of an ailment and are denied access to the company.

Mr Boakye said the company was running a skeletal office where only essential staff come to the office with 30% of the staff working from home.

Trucks coming from international borders are disinfected with chlorine using knapsack sprayer, he stressed.

Branch Manager for Mobile Zone-E-Gate Ghana Ltd., Western and Central Regions at TECHNO office in Takoradi, Mr George Brown told the GNA that management was considering staff rationing and providing nose masks for employees of the company in addition to observing all other safety protocols outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

He advised traders who had taken advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to extort money from the public as the prices of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) keep skyrocketing, to be sensitive and desist from the practice.

At the Vodafone office in Takoradi, management told the GNA that the company was adhering strictly to the safety protocols to stem the spread of the virus.
