Asankrangwa (W/R), Aug. 19, GNA - Forty brand new computers donated by the government to the Asankrangwa Secondary Technical School (ASANTECH) cannot be used.

Mr Dzidzeme K. Sedanu-Kwawu, Headmaster of the School disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Asankrangwa on Thursday.

He said though the equipment were modern, each of them needed a step-down transformer, while central networking units for the computers were not included in the package.

Mr Sedanu-Kwawu said due to the lack of classroom facilities, the 412 students use the various workshops as their classrooms. He hinted that the School had started construction work on a five-unit classroom block and an assembly hall through its own internally generated funds.

Mr Sedanu-Kwawu said students owed the school about 205 million cedis in unpaid fees thus hindering the expansion of the school and warned that the school would be compelled to institute legal action against some of the students and their parents for non-payment of school fees.

He said the school offers a three-year programme in electrical, masonry, woodworks and carpentry.
