Mrs Esther Bossman, Abokobi Municipal Director of Education, has appealed to teachers to conduct personal hygiene inspection on their pupils and ensure that food vendors on school compounds kept their surroundings clean.

She said this during the fourth anniversary celebration of the Madina Sanitation International Students Organization (SISO), a basic school sanitation club based in the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Basic School in Madina.

The event was celebrated with poetry recitals, drama sketches and a choreographed dancing.

Mrs Bossman said, one of the policies in education is promoting good health to enhance quality education in the country and appealed to the teachers to ensure that the pupils are always in good health.

She appealed to the children to learn hard both at school and at home and entreated all students to keep their environments clean and treat sanitation concerns seriously.

Madam Mahama Sadia, Abokobi Municipal School Health Co-ordinator, asked the pupils to avoid defecating any where and ensure that they visit to the designated points when nature calls.

She also appealed to the pupils to avoid disposing solid waste into the gutters since these actions compounded the sanitation problems in the society.

Madam Roseline A.M. Ditsa, the Patron of the Madina Sanitation International Students Organization (SISO), urged all concerned to use their energies to help keep their communities and environments clean.

Certificates of honour were presented to some of the final year students who had contributed their quota towards the sanitation of the school.

She expressed her appreciation to Mama Lit, NADMO and the Ghana Red Cross amongst others for their kind assistance in helping to make the program a success.**
