Confused Bawumia is likely to incite civil war - Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the ruling NDC, Kofi Adams says the running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is now a “confused” politician who is likely to cause a civil insurrection in the country.

He explained that the NPP 2016 running mate has turned away from addressing economic issues as he is noted for – and now shifting his ideas to religious politics to canvas for votes for his party ahead of the November 7 elections.

“Now Bawumia is running away from his economy theories to religious politics. What he is doing is very dangerous to the oneness of Ghana,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia over the weekend courted controversy when he implicitly indicted the presidency of a lack of religious imbalance.

While addressing party supporters last week at a village in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region, Dr. Bawumia, vice presidential candidate of the NPP, said the Flagstaff House - the seat of Ghana’s Presidency - does not reflect the people of Ghana in terms of religion.

“Another major issue that I want to bring to the attention of the people is that; if we look at the Flagstaff House today, it does not reflect the people of Ghana in terms of religion....We are in this country living peacefully and nicely; Muslims and Christians. So we believe in the NPP that Christians and Muslims should work together, and that is why whenever we pick a president as a Christian, we pick a Muslim as a vice.

“…So if, Insha Allah, Nana Akufo-Addo becomes president, he will swear with the Bible and enter the Flagstaff and I will swear with the Quran and enter the Flagstaff House. So when we combine the Quran and the Bible, Ghana will be the major beneficiary. The blessings of God will be on Ghana if we have the two religions in the Flagstaff House,” he said when addressing some NPP supporters in the Sissala East District in the Upper West region

However, speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed Ghana Montie, Kofi Adams strongly held the view that Dr. Bawumia’s comments were ‘silly’ and ‘unfortunate.'
