There has been a great deal of drama this morning at the Dr. Mensah-Antoa station in Kumasi throwing business activities into a state of confusion.
Some security personnel were seen supervising the fencing of the station whiles at the same time, another team of security personnel oversaw the tearing down of the fences.
OtecFm's Nana Asare Barimah reports that about twenty fully armed policemen stormed the station Thursday morning and ordered everyone to vacate the space as the "owner" of the land wanted to develop his land.
Before the traders and transport operators could storm the KMA for answers, another set of about twenty-five security personnel made up of military men, fire officers and Police Officers surfaced and ordered the other team to stop fencing the area since the KMA Chief Executive had not authorized anyone to occupy that stretch of land.
Meanwhile, the claimants to the land bore documents and claimed their late grandfather acquired the land and that they also bore an order from the High Court authorizing them to evict all current occupants from the land.
KMA Chief Executive; Osei Asibey, however, believes that all documents notwithstanding, he should have been informed before any such action since he is in charge of the metropolis and all the traders and transport operators fall within his care. He says the claimants should do the right thing by coming to his office for a discussion.
