Consar Quarry Limited spends 500 million cedis on school

Barekese (Ash), Oct 6, GNA-The Consar Quarry Limited at Barekese in the Atwima district has spent more than 500 million cedis to put up a three-unit teachers living accommodation for the headmaster and two other senior staff of Barekese Secondary School.

The project, estimated at over 900 million cedis forms part of the company's social responsibility towards the community and its catchment areas.

Mr Tasadeq H. Shah, the Managing Director of the company, disclosed this when the Barekese Secondary School Implementation Committee led by Mr Kwasi Adusei, the Barekese assembly member and two officers from the Atwima district education directorate inspected the infrastructure and other facilities at the new school on Tuesday.

Mr Shah said the company has supported some communities within its catchment area, including Adankwame, Marbang and Barekuma with chippings and other building materials to rehabilitate their dilapidated basic schools.

The company has also provided electric poles for the Marbang community and spent over 100 million cedis to renovate the Barekese palace.

Mr Shah said the company is prepared to assist any community within its catchment area that initiates priority development programmes.

Mr Adusei commended the company for its immense contribution towards the development of the area and called on Barekese citizens to help make the smooth take-off of the secondary school possible. Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education at the Atwima district education directorate, expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and other facilities provided at the new school and appealed to parents to enrol their junior secondary school graduates at the school.
