General Manager (GM) of the Accra branch of the Consolidated Shipping Agencies Limited (Conship), one of the successful freight forwarding and logistics companies in the country, has agreed to a request by management of the Pantang Hospital, to support the facility.

Raymond Agyekum, has pledged to donate to the Hospital next year.

His comment was in response to a request by management of the Hospital, during a presentation of items to the facility on Monday.

Mr. Agyekum, who visited some of the wards said, he was happy they were able to provide items the facility needed the most.

Items presented during the Monday visit included; pillows, mattresses, cotton wool, cooking oil, disinfectant, gloves, Blood Pressure (BP) machines, liquid soap among others.

The GM in an interview said, the gesture was part of his organization’s Corporate Social Responsible (CSR), adding, they had planned to make the donation at an equally impor- tant facility, but after hearing the state of the Pantang Hospital, they decided to make the donation to the inmates there.

Conship, which has branches in Tema and Takoradi, makes these donations every year.

In June, it had it Tema office, visiting the Tema General Hospital to make similar donation.

Mr. Agyekum, urged other corporate firms and organizations, to contribute their quota to ensure the facility serves it purpose.

Acting Director of the Hospital, Dr. Kwadwo M. Obeng, thanked Conship for timely coming to their aid.

According to the psychiatrist, the Hospital was in dire need of sup- port. He took the opportunity to plead with Conship, to make such donations, as often as possible.

“I have to say this is among three most thoughtful visits we had as a donation from any of our partners. Particularly, we are very happy about the BP apparatus because, people don’t think about us as a hospital but we are a hospital, we have patients.

We have all these other problems as well and these are some of the things sometimes, we struggle to get and they are not cheap. So, I really appreciate the investment that has gone into what you brought, what you have donated to us”, he said.

Dr Obeng continued, “In fact, I was listening to you and you said you have been to a number of places. This is the last place, we have enough problems, you don’t have to go anywhere again.

You can come here next month and we will still have new things for you to help us with.

We are developing our own development plan, so that you can fit in to what we are trying to do so you can help us improve the state of mental health care in Ghana so that, we achieve excellence”.

Conship, established in 1996, specializes in shipping, freight for- warding, import and export, vessel agencies, customs brokerage and others.
