Consider NPP's achievement and return it to power- JAK

Accra, Oct 22, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday asked the Ghanaian electorate not to overlook the great achievements made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 2001 and return the Party to power to enable it continue with the positive change it had brought into the economy and other sectors.

He gave the assurance that there would be a massive acceleration of the country's economic growth through more investments, wealth and jobs creation and more employment for the people if the Party was given a second term.

President Kufuor was addressing separate durbars of the chiefs and people of Nungua, Teshie, La and Osu at the end of his two-day official tour of parts of the Accra Metropolis.

He said: " we need to restore confidence in the economy, continue to bring inflation and interest rates down for businesses to flourish, improve the private sector, create more employment and put more money in the pockets of the people. This could only be achieved when the NPP is returned to power".

President Kufuor said the second tenure of the NPP would bring prosperity to the country, which Ghanaians were yearning for. He noted that the campaign for the December Election had begun with the filing of nominations by both the Presidential and Parliamentary candidates and urged the electorate to exercise their franchise in a peaceful, free and fair manner.

President Kufuor said: "Let the power in your vote on December 7, decide for more positive change in Ghana".

He advised the chiefs and people to ensure that peace prevailed in their areas for development.

Responding to a request by Nii Ako Nortei IV, OSU Mankralo, that one Government bungalows should be released to serve as a Secretariat for the Osu Traditional Council, President Kufuor directed the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to consider the request and assist the Council.

The chiefs requested the Government to pay compensation for lands released to the State while those that had not been utilized should be returned to the traditional authorities.

They also appealed to political parties contesting the December polls to ensure that their electioneering campaigns were devoid of insults and attacks on personalities but to focus on issues to ensure a peaceful, free and fair elections.
