Minister for Education Matthew Opoku Prempeh has revealed that the delay in the construction of some GETFund sponsored schools is due to the non-performance of contractors as well as irregular funding.
He, however, added the contractors of some of these abandoned projects have been asked to return to site to complete their outstanding projects.
He added that his ministry will re-award these contracts if the contractors fail to complete the project.
“Some of these projects have been delayed and others abandoned. This has partly been caused by the non-performance of contractors as well as irregular funding.
Consultants have tasked the contractors of these abandoned projects to return to site to complete all outstanding works. The ministry through the supervising consultants is also considering the termination and re-awarding of these abandoned projects within the constituency in the eventual failure by the contractors to continue and complete the outstanding works.” He said
Matthew Opoku-Prempeh made this statement on the floor of Parliament after being asked what measures the Ministry had in place to complete the abandoned GETFund school blocks in the Manso Adubia Constituency of the Amansie South District.
