Political Scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), Prof. John Osei Bobie Boahin has accused the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin of being the reason for the tension in parliament.

While speaking to Nana Yaa Brefo on Onua FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Prof John Osei Bobie Boahin disclosed that Alban Bagbin is the only speaker in the history of Ghana with a lot of controversies.

“When I listen to the Speaker of Parliament, I will blame him for the current tension in parliament. When you look at our history, we haven’t experienced any Speaker of parliament who is linked to so many controversies like Alban Bagbin”, Prof Boahin said.

“When you behave like an over learned person, you create controversies around you. It doesn’t help. It causes a lot of tension”, he added.

According to Prof Boahin, some issues should not be elongated because it only breeds tensions, adding that it is important to choose peace and reduce tension during issues like these.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, while addressing the media and Ghanaians on the brouhaha surrounding his declaration of four seats in the House vacant, brushed off allegations of a constitutional crisis in the country.

According to him, nothing of such has occurred; rather, the law is what the Executive and Judiciary are impeding from functioning properly.

This was announced by Alban Sumana Bagbin during a news conference on November 6, 2024.

He said, “There is no constitutional crisis in this country. The Parliament of Ghana is alive and working, let nobody mislead, misinform, or disinform you and the country.”.

Adding that “Democracy is about the rule of law; let the law work.”
