Convicted robber to spend 274 months in jail

The Tepa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Kwame Osei Gyamfi, has sentenced a man convicted of robbery to a total of 274 months imprisonment.

Bismark Addae, 22, had attacked a trader at gun point and robbed her of GH¢500.00 three mobile phones and a quantity of Airtel recharge cards.

He had also in a separate incident broken into three shops and made off with five computers and accessories, flat screen television set, DSTV and Multi-TV decoders, together with cash of GH¢1,800.00.

The convict was charged with robbery and unlawful entry and he pleaded not guilty.

His accomplice, whose name was given in court as Charles Ansah, alias “Sakora” is on the run and the police had mounted a search to arrest and bring him to justice.

Police Inspector Andrew Asiedu Banafo said Addae had pulled a gun at the trader, Shirley Owusu, seized and fled with her cash, phones and recharge cards at Tepa on September 23, at about 0400 hours.

He had, a week before, broken into three shops in the town, operated by Isaac Boakye, Bright Achampong and Armah Frimpong, to steal computers, television, decoders and cash.

The prosecution said Shirley, on October 30, chanced up the spouse of the convict using one of her stolen phones and alerted the police.

All the stolen items were retrieved from Addae’s room after his arrest.
