Coronavirus: 66.6 per cent of victims have no travel history – Ghana Health Service

Amidst the sharp increase in the COVID-19 cases in Ghana, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has noted that 66.6 per cent of victims have no travel history.

According to the GHS, 33.4 per cent of the recent 566 cases recorded between March to April, had a history of travel.

In terms of gender parity, data available to the GHS indicates that 58.0 per cent of males are contracting the virus than their female counterpart which represent 42.0 per cent.

Ghana’s coronavirus cases jumped to 566 after an additional 158 cases were recorded.

Two new regions, the Volta and Western regions have joined other regions with the deadly novel virus.

"The breakdown of the 566 positive cases are as follows: four have been treated, discharged and tested negative, 552 cases have been categorized as mild disease on treatment, two moderate to severe cases, none currently on ventilators and eight have died,” the Ghana Health Service stated on Sunday evening.

Per the Ghana Health Service update, out of the 566 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 292 were reported from the routine surveillance, 159 from enhanced surveillance activities and 115 from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale," it added.
