The National Democracy Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Cassiel Ato Forson has presented Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs and other sanitary items to 193 communities in his constituency.
According to the former deputy finance minister, the GHC125,000 worth of items will help curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic that the world is currently grappling with.
The items which included 500 Veronica buckets, 20,000 hand sanitizers, nose masks, gloves, liquid soaps among other things were presented on his behalf by NDC Constituency Secretary, Andrews Kojo Doodu on over the weekend.
Andrews Doodu said the MP’s priority is the health and safety of his constituents, adding that this is the third in a series of PPEs donations by the MP.
Paramount Chief of Enyan Denkyira, Osaberima Otsibu Kwaw VI, who received the donations on behalf of the people, described the gesture from the MP as timely.
“The donation by the MP is timely, it will help in dealing with the COVIID – 19. We thank him very much,” he said.
Ghana has so far recorded 214 COVID-19 cases with 5 deaths. The development has left Accra, Kasoa, Tema and Kumasi under a 2-week partial lockdown to curb the spread.
President Akufo-Addo in an address yesterday, disclosed over 15,000 people have been tested through contact tracing since the lockdown began.
According to him results of these tests will determine whether the lockdown is extended or called off.
