The Paramount Chief of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area in the Central Region Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, is appealing to the Ministry of Health to publish names of persons who have contracted the coronavirus to prevent its rapid spread throughout the country.

He holds the view that covid19 is not a sexually transmitted disease for which a patient could be stigmatized hence names of the affected patients must be made known to the public.

Speaking at a press conference, Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X further stated that contact tracing is a long process to finding out persons who might have come into contact with coronavirus patients.

“I appeal to the Ministry of Health to put out the names of the affected persons because it’s not a disease to contract this disease. This disease is not like AIDS that people might say the patient contracted it by cheating on his or her partner. So if the officials publish the names then anybody who has come into contact with a patient will voluntarily go and have a test done. Contract tracing takes too much time and resources so the Ministry of Health should do the needful of publishing the names. We know that the British PM Boris Johnson, Prince Charles and several athletes, NBA players among others have contracted the disease. This is a disease that we need full disclosure on patients, even if someone works at the Jubilee House and has the disease the person’s name must be put out.”

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X appealed to Ghanaians to adhere to the measures and advice given by government and the ministry of health including washing of hands regularly using sanitizers etc.

He also took the opportunity to thank MP for Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency, Ato Forson and the NPP parliamentary candidate Dr. Rashid Etuaful for donating items such as Hand sanitizers, Veronica bucket, soap, nose masks, etc to prevent COVID-19.

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X called on other philanthropists to emulate what others are doing to fight various.
