Coronavirus: Forestry Commission donates to three frontline institutions

The Forestry Commission has donated assorted hygiene items and an amount of GHC 50,000 to three frontline institutions in the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

The items donated include 50 Veronica buckets, 50 dustbins, 600 bottles of liquid soap, 400 pieces of paper towels, 12 infrared thermometers and 50 gallons of hand sanitizer.

The beneficiary institutions are the Achimota Police, the Achimota Hospital and the Legon Hospital.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Forestry Commission, Mr John Allotey, Deputy Chief Executive, said the gesture was aimed at complementing government’s efforts to support institutions which are at the forefront of driving efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

“We are here in line with the call by the President for institutions and individuals to support the effort of government to ensure that the pandemic is dealt with,” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Achimota School District Police Command, Mrs Christine Amuzu Srofenyoh, District Police Commander of the Achimota School Police Command, expressed her gratitude to the Forestry Commission for the support.

She lauded the effort of the Commission and pledged that the donated items would be put to good use to enhance their operations and stem the spread of the coronavirus.

At the Achimota Hospital, Dr Salamatu Nantomah, Medical Superintendent, lauded the contribution of the Forestry Commission, saying the donation will go a long way to motivate the staff at the facility.

On his part, Mr Eric Gaisie, the Hospital Administrator of the University Hospital Legon, thanked the Commission for the support saying the items would aid efforts to halt the spread of the disease.
