Coronavirus: Ghana has tested 50,719 persons so far - Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah has stated that Ghana has conducted about 50,719 tests so far in connection with the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to him, the number of tests conducted so far is almost five times of tests targeted by government.

The test, he said was conducted in three categories.

Under the Normal surveillance, he said 13,838 persons have been tested. Out of the number, 268 were positive, representing 1.9 %.

Under the Mandatory quarantine, 2011 tests were conducted on people who came into the country and arrived at the Kotoka International Airport and Tamale.

Out of the number, 105 tested positive representing 5.28%.

In Tamale, out of the 11 people who tested for COVID-19, 10 were positive.

For the Enhanced contact tracing and testing, he said 34,859 were tested.

Out of that, 258 were positive also representing 0.7%.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 641 positive cases as at now. 83 persons have recovered while 17 are waiting to conduct a second test with 8 deaths.
