Reports gathered so far by Peace FM correspondents indicate that some residents of the lockdown areas are being deceitful to the security operatives.
Ghana is currently on a two-week lockdown to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The security personnel made up of the police and military are on grounds to ensure that the lockdown directives are adhered to.
However, some Ghanaians who claim to be attending to essential needs like going to the pharmacy, hospital or buying consumables often end up on the streets just to ‘find out what is happening in town’.
Supt Shiela Abayie-Buckman, Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, interacting with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s morning show, Thursday said the police are scaling up their operations and that “if it takes us to follow people to the pharmacy or wherever we will do it to prevent the spread of the virus”.
