A private company, Nungua Warehouse Company Limited (NWCL) in Accra has donated food items to some residents at Nungua to support them during the lockdown.
The company donated 600 bags of food items worth GH150,000 to the residents. Each package included a bag of rice, oil, sugar, canned fish, tomatoes paste and gari, sanitizer and pack of bottle water.
A Lawyer of the NWCL, Mr Jones Bortey Applerh, who led officials to distribute the items told journalists that the donation formed part of the company's efforts to support the vulnerable during this crucial time and also their Easter gift to the community.
He explained that the COVID 19, it is difficult to observe the lockdown protocol without food and therefore the donation was the company's gesture to help the vulnerable in this critical time.
He called on corporate Ghana and other members of society to support the vulnerable ones.
Mr Applerh urged Ghanaians to adhere to the precautionary measures, especially, social distancing in order not to be infected.
He also advised them to ensure proper cleaning of hands, using of sanitizer and stay home as directed by the President.
Mr Applerh further called on other companies, individuals and non-governmental organisations to also support the needy in such difficult times.
Mr Applerh also urged beneficiaries of such gestures to adhere to social distancing protocol when receiving the items to avoid spread of the disease.
Beneficiaries of the items expressed their gratitude to the management of the company.
One of the beneficiaries, Nii Quaye thanked the company for the gesture and called on others who are capable to emulate NWCL.
