Vice President Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia has revealed that only 1 percent of 50,719 people tested for coronavirus were positive.

According to him, the strategy and measures employed by the Nana Addo led administration is what has accounted for the commendable outcomes in the fight against the virus.

Ghana has so far tested 50, 719 samples with 641 turning out positive while 8 deaths have been recorded.

Speaking during a visit to the National Information Contact Centre on Thursday, Dr. Bawumia said Ghana’s approach to the virus which is tracing, testing and treating is significantly different from what other countries are doing, a reason Ghana has been praised for its strides.

“The measure and the grace of God have resulted in an outcome that is reasonable. As at yesterday, out of 50,719 people tested, almost 99 percent was negative and only about 1% was positive,” he said.

He stated further that "this is because we are chasing the virus and we are not waiting as other countries are doing by waiting for the virus to come to them by people getting sick and going to the hospital. Ghana is doing something different. We are chasing into the community to trace the virus, test people and to treat them. A very different architecture that we are implementing in Ghana.”
