Coronavirus Pandemic: UGMC receives support from Accra Friendship Club and others

Chairman of the Accra Friendship Club (AFC), Paa Gyimah Genfi together with some executives and members of the Club have donated assorted items to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as their support to the Centre for the management of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The items include thirty (30) gallons each of rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizers, liquid soap, Veronica buckets, forty (40) bales of toilet rolls, ten thousand (10,000) pieces of single use examination gloves, thirty (30) pieces of paper towels and fifty-five (55) cartons of bottled water.

According to Mr. Genfi, the members of the Club decided to donate the items to UGMC as their modest contribution to Ghana's fight against the COVID-19.

"I believe corporate entities and philanthropists need to consider donating to facilities like UGMC and other similar ones across the country who are equally contributing their quota towards the management of this pandemic by handling suspected cases, Mr. Gyimah Genfi said.

The CEO of the Centre, Dr. Darius Osei, who received the items on behalf of the Centre, expressed immense appreciation to the Accra Friendship Club. He informed them that the donation will go a long way to assist the hospital to take care of COVID-19 clients who are currently on treatment at the Centre.

Other representatives of the Club who accompanied Mr. Gyimah Genfi were Mr. Martin Osei Brobbey, CEO of Lexta Ghana Ltd. (importers of Yazz products) and Vice Chairman of AFC, Mr. Frederick Sarpong Ofori (aka OLA) and Nana Osei Debrah (aka Akwasi Osei).

In a related development, the management of Sweet Pepper Restaurant represented by Dr. Ebenezer Wireko, donated 25 portions of free meals to front liners of the Facility for one week. Management of Manzuki Ghana Ltd ( MGL) represented by Mr. Israella Mansu, also donated 48 pieces of (250ml) hand sanitizers, 24 pieces of hair pomade and 8 gallons of (5 L) of hand sanitizesr, while management of Pot Belly Restaurant represented by their manager, Mr. Victor Adigbli donated 10 boxes of pizza to staff of the Centre.
