Residential students of the University of Ghana have been asked to vacate their respective halls of residence by 4 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

International Students and those on contact tracing list are, however, exempted from this.

Students who may have peculiar or special challenges and therefore wish to remain on campus have been asked to report to the Offices of their respective Senior Tutors for assistance.

Students who have common cold or flu-like symptoms and are yet to vacate the campus have also been instructed to report to the Students Clinic to be attended before they leave campus.

This was in a statement signed by the Registrar of the University, Mercy Hazel-Ashia.

Following a reported imported case of COVID-19 of a student (and at the national level) and the President’s directive for schools to close down until further notice, it is directed that all resident students (excluding international students and those on the contact tracing list), are to vacate the Halls of Residence, taking with them all their belongings, by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 21st March, 2020,” part of the statement reads.

Tertiary institutions in the country have asked their students to leave campus following a directive from President Akufo-Addo that all universities should close down until further notice.

Students of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, University of Energy and Natural Resources, among others, have been instructed to leave campus.
