Coronavirus knows no political colours – Deputy Energy Minister

Deputy Minister for Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has urged residents in Agbogbloshie in Accra not to politicise the novel Cronavirus because the pandemic does discriminate.

His comment comes on the back of concerns raised by various stakeholders calling out government on measures put in place to stem the spread of the virus.

Addressing residents in Agbogbloshie, Deputy Energy Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam said everyone is vulnerable as far as the disease is concerned, regardless of political affiliations.

He therefore called on the general public to observe the various health protocols that need to be adhered to.

This education was made by the energy minister last weekend while presenting assorted food, beverages and hand sanitizers to Karaga people at Agbogbloshie in Accra to support them during the lockdown period.

According to him, “the expression of love and solidarity for each other is about the greatest support we can extend to the vulnerable in these difficult times.” Therefore the food and other materials were his token contributions towards their upkeep, as they are unable to work during the lockdown period.

He also appealed to organizations and individuals to come to the aid of the people at Agbogbloshie to aid them in these difficult times.

Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen sharply to 287, an update by Ghana Health Service late Monday, April 6, 2020 has revealed. At the last count, confirmed Covid-19 cases stood at 214, implying 73 new persons have tested positive for the deadly virus.

The number of deaths, however, remain five.

“The regional distribution of the cases are as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (258) followed by the Ashanti Region (18), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1) and Upper East Region (1),” the Ghana Health Service stated.
