Mankessim, (Central Region) 30 Nov. '98 The Police have seized a corpse, believed to be that of a member of the Paakesido Nsona Royal family, which was being preserved at the Mankessim Omanhene's palace without the knowledge of the health authorities. Mr Ekow Mbeah, head of the Nsona Royal family, is assisting the Police in their investigations as to why the deceased's body was not being preserved in a mortuary but in the palace. Briefing the press at Mankessim at the weekend, a Police spokesman said a member of the Paakesido Nsona Royal family, one of two factions in the dispute died at Breman Asikuma Catholic Hospital on October 14, this year and the body was moved to Mankessim for preservation. A Cape Coast High Court has restrained two factions contesting the Mankessim stool from entering the palace. Mr Sampson Akrofi, assistant Mfantsiman district environmental health officer, said it was against the rules of environmental health to preserve a body in any house without the approval of the district director of health services.
