Former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea has slammed former President Jerry John Rawlings over his recent remarks that his successor is an "autocratic thief."

President Rawlings promised Ghanaians never to quit exposing the "corrupt" nature of former President Kufour because to him, he (Mr. Kufour) has created an impression to the young ones in the nation as if "corruption started with this man, the young man, John Mahama, no, it started with Kufuor, and that’s why I said Kufuor was an autocratic thief.”

But speaking in an interview with peacefmonline.com, Nana Akomea sought to call former President Rawlings to order, positing that Mr. Rawlings has "two personalities" and behaves like "he's living in two different worlds."

He wondered why he (President Rawlings) would single out his successor over something his own inventions.

“The very same thing he accuses other people, he’s even more guilty. This is a man who staged a coup in 1982 and overthrew the democratically elected government of Limann. When Limann was in power, we had Parliament. We had Auditor General looking at government accounts and making reports to Parliament. We had all those institutional arrangements taking place. Rawlings said they were corrupt. They were inefficient. He came and removed them, and then brought his own PNDC.

“For 10 years, nobody could audit them…This is a person who sold State Assets to his wife…This is a man who came and said that he wanted to raise the poor up and yet, all his children; he educated them abroad. Which money did he use to educate his children abroad?” he rhetorically asked.
