Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has hit hard at President John Mahama once again, saying corruption is the “hallmark of his government”.

The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the NDC government has sullied its image with the “theft of public funds through various schemes and the overpricing of project costs.”

“Corruption is the hallmark of this government. You have SADA, GYEEDA, Woyome, Bus Branding, Kumasi Airport Renovation – everything they touch is corruption and that is costing us a lot of money”, he said at Kuwane in the Salaga South Constituency of the Northern region.

He said Mahama cannot solve the problems of Ghanaians and another four years under his watch will spell doom for Ghana.

“The NDC has been in government for 8 years. They told us edey be keke. But today after 8 years, do you have water to drink in Kuwane? Can you find drugs when you get to the hospital? Can you find drugs when you get to the hospital? If a snake bites you will you get a snake serum? Do you have the ferry from Salaga to Yeji? What about the road from Salaga to Tamale? Is the Cassava factory working? Can we pay our School fees? Can we pay our hospital bills? Can we find jobs?

“So what is the purpose of a government? You vote for government to solve your problems, you don’t vote for a government to add more problems and so it is time to vote for a government that is going to solve our problems”, he indicated.

Dr. Bawumia touched on the NDC’s tribal politicking and reminded the people that despite an allocation of over GHC200 million for Northern Development, Mahama and his officials had succeeded in looting all those resources and denied the people of the North, the development needed.

“John Mahama told us that he is our brother so we should vote for him. He has been in government for eight (8) years – four (4) years as Vice President and four (4) years as President , when they gave him 200 million to help the North with SADA, what did he do with it?

“John Mahama has gone in for 8 years, he has not done anything for Northerners. It is time to let him know that we want a government of integrity. If he comes again that he is our brother, we should let him know that we have another brother who has integrity and who has vision”, he added.

Dr. Bawumia, who has been in the North for over a week, has so far toured the Nanton, Kumbungu, Tolon, Damongo, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Yapei-Kusawgu, Daboya-Mankarigu and Savelugu constituencies. He toured the Salaga North and South Constituencies on Tuesday and visited communities such as Jantong, Fuu, Binjai, Kuwane and Kalande.
