The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo has taken swipe at the embattled former CEOof Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Stephen Opuni, currently standing trial for various forms of corruption he allegedly committed against the State under the erswhile National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s administration as unprecedented in Ghana's history ever.
"If you compare the 52 million dollars Woyome took from the State to what Opuni has done, you will understand Woyome is a pastor who needs to be treated well than Opuni", Mr. Kusi Boafo spoke on Kumasi-based Kessben during a discussion monitored by reporter, Kwabena Danso-Dapaah.
According to the outspoken economics, the country's dept is as a result of abysmal management of the economy by appointeee under John Mhama administration.
"Under NDC, the appointees diverted monies from State coffers into their private pockets, build mansions and filling stations for themselves", Mr. Kusi Boafo alleged without substantive evidence to back those cliams.
Dr. Opuni and Seidu Agongo, Managing Director of Agricult Ghana Limited, are before an Accra High Court for causing financial loss to the state to the tune of GH¢217,370,289.22.
The two are facing a total of 27 charges, including defrauding by false pretence, willfully causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, corruption by a public officer and contravention of the Public Procurement Act.
The two are in court over the purchase and supply of Lithovit fertilizer which the state said was done in contravention of several laws.
The prosecution has maintained that the fertilizer tested and approved with certificate was a solid substance but the defence insisted it was in a liquid form.
