?There had not been an occasion within the Council?s 14 months in office that we have been at loggerheads with the President?, he told the Executive Committee members of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly at Koforidua, as part of his tour of the 15 District Assemblies in the Eastern Region.
Mr. Ofori-Atta disclosed that the Council has met 80 times to discuss national issues, saying that the main job of the Council is to counsel the President.
Turning to the District Assembly concept, he said, we have to advance the Assembly concept to become the people concept by reviewing the membership of the various District Assemblies and the number pruned down to a suitable size for effective operation.
He wondered why there had been no amendment to Act 462 since it came into being about 11 years ago. He therefore called for the need to take a second look at certain areas in the Act, especially the membership clause which he described as ?too large?.
