Koforidua, July 22, GNA - A High Court in Koforidua, presided over by Mr Justice Samuel Marful-Sau, on Tuesday adjourned the case in which the Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and two others have been cited for contempt to October 15, 2003. When the case was called, counsel for the Okyehene, Professor Nii Ashie Kotey, said the applicant, the destooled chief of Nkwantang, Adanse-Akyem Omane, did not avail himself of the settlement out of court ordered by the court at its previous sitting. However, Prof Kotey's claim was countered by the applicant, who said he was told that the Okyehene had traveled out of the country when he visited his palace in Accra.

Justice Marful-Sau, therefore, adjourned the case to allow two parties in the case more time to settlement the case. The Gyasehene of Akyem Abuakwa, Osabarima Darkwa Woe and the two other defendants, Mr Fred Asante, a Member of the Council of State and Barima Kyeretwie Boakye Dankwa, the Abontendomhene of Kyebi, represented the Okyehene in court. The former chief had also filed motions for prohibition against the Kyebi Executive Council over the hearing of the case about his destoolment and for certiorari seeking an order to quash his destoolment by the Okyeman Council earlier this year over alleged disrespect to the Okyehene and the Council.
