Kade, April 18, GNA - A woman who threw stones into the room of her boyfriend as he was sleeping with another woman, has been convicted by the Kade District Magistrate's court. Margaret Odeibea, a farmer, who pleaded guilty with explanation to intentionally and unlawfully assaulting Kwasi Arhin, was ordered to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for six months or in default serve three months in prison.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector D. A. Atigsika said at about 0145 hours on March 18, this year, the complainant was sleeping in his room at Apinamang in the Eastern Region, when the accused stood behind the opened window and started throwing stones into the place. She later dared him to get out of the room, "if he is a man for she was ready to butcher him".

The complainant retorted that she was no longer his girlfriend so she should go to hell. But Margaret insisted that she was the complainant's girl friend who had promised to give her his old store for business. When the complainant was coming out of his room to confront her, she fled while accusing him of being a prostitute. The complainant lodged a complaint with the police and the accused was arrested.

Margaret claimed she had been in a relationship with the complainant for the past 16 years and had toiled to assist him. She said the complainant deceived her that he would offer her his old store and subsequently summoned her before two elders to inform her that he was going to marry another woman.

The accused said she then insisted that before he could marry, he should fulfil his promise of giving her the store. The accused admitted peeping through the window of the complainant and finding him in bed with another woman, compelling her to throw sand and stones into the room forcing the couple to run out. 18 April 10
