An Accra Circuit Court has deferred the sentencing of Atta Kofi Kyei alias freshboy, unemployed, who raped a student of the University of Ghana, Legon.

Freshboy was convicted on his own plea and remanded by the court to reappear on Jan 26 for sentencing.

Kofi, who is currently serving a 20-year jail term for robbery, pleaded not guilty to two other counts of robbery.

Police Chief Inspector K. Adu said there are two complainants in the case, one being a student and the other one a journalist.

He said on December 14, last year, the student alighted from a vehicle close to the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School to cross to the Evandy hostels, Legon, whilst waiting to cross the road the convict emerged from the bush and threatened complainant with a knife.

The prosecution said the convict then ordered the girl to remain silence else, he would kill her. Freshboy then dragged her into the bush undress her, used her clothes to blindfold her and forcibly had sex with her.

Police Inspector Adu said during the sexual intercourse the complainant realised she could lose all if, she failed to have a good look of the convict and so told him to remove the blindfold to enable them enjoy the act together.

“This enabled the complainant to have a vivid look at the convict,” he added.

He said after the sexual act, the convict ordered the complainant to move out of the bush and never look back but when she was leaving the scene, he ordered her to stop and at that point handed over her properties to her for a good performance and obedience after using the complainant’s phone to dial another number.

The prosecution said the convict then bolted as the complainant was joining the main road.

She lodged a complaint and was issued with a police medical form.

He said on two different occasions the convict used an Airtel number to call the complainant and reminded her of the act he took her through.

Meanwhile on January 1, this year at about 12:00 hours, the convict attacked the second complainant, who is a journalist.

He said the convict attacked the complainant, who was about crossing the road to board a vehicle at Atomic junction, fired gunshots and robbed.

Items taken away included one Toshiba laptop, Asus tablet, mobile phone, ipad mini, two certificates, pen drive, and audio recorder valued at GH?6,000.00 and cash of GH?140.00.

After the act the convict fled into the nearby bush. During investigations, the complainants, who visited the police station identified the convict, he admitted having sex with the student but denied the robbing of the journalist.
