A Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined a 50 year-old farmer, Klohiley Blonko GH¢ 360 for unlawfully entering the concession of Goldfields Ghana Limited (GGL), Tarkwa Mine.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr. Obeng Asante, that the complainants were security officers of GGL, Tarkwa Mine and the accused was resident at Huniso.
Detective Amponsah said, on April 15, at about 2330 hours, the security officers of the company were on their normal patrol duty when they spotted the accused at the Konttravechy area, within the mine with a sack of stone suspected to contain gold dust.
He said the accused was, consequently, arrested and handed over to the Police together with the exhibit found on him.
Detective Amponsah said the exhibit was forwarded to the Goldfields assay laboratory in Tarkwa for examination and report.
Detective Amponsah said on April 30, the assay report was received indicating the weight of the gold nugget as 0.32 grams and valued at GH¢ 47.31.
After investigations, the accused was charged with the offence.
