Ejisu (Ash), July 28, GNA- The Ejisu Magistrate's court on Tuesday fined a 32-year-old chop barkeeper from Onwe 400,000 cedis for assault. Asuo Gyebi, who pleaded guilty, will serve a four-month prison term in default.

In addition, she is to compensate the victim 300,000 cedis or will serve another four-month jail term.

Chief Inspector A.K. Danquah told the court that on July 7, this year, Ajara Afrifa, the complainant, sold four head loads of firewood to Gyebi at 15,000 cedis.

He said on July 16, the complainant sent her son to the accused to collect the money since she was sick and needed the money to buy drugs. Chief Inspector Danquah said Gyebi refused to pay the money to the complainant's son so she managed to go to the accused herself but on seeing her, Gyebi became angry and told complainant not to worry her because of 15,000 cedis.

The prosecution said Gyebi hit the Ajara's arm with a pestle and inflicted injury on the complainant.

Chief Inspector Danquah said Ajara therefore reported the case to the police.
