Court fines driver for careless driving

Mankranso (Ash), June 18, GNA- A magistrate court at Mankranso on Thursday fined a 26-year-old driver, one million cedis for careless driving.

Frank Oppong who pleaded guilty will serve a 12-month prison term in default.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Abraham Agyei-Mensah told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that at about 1600 hours on May 8, this year, Oppong was driving from Duayaw-Nkwanta to Kumasi and at a police barrier at Beposo, Oppong drove his car into the back of a saloon car.

The prosecutor said Oppong's car veered off the road and ran into a ditch, resulting in one Mr Frimpong sustaining injuries. Mr Frimpong was taken to the Mankranso Government Hospital.
